Hybrid III Children Series
- Standard 10YO ATD 420-0000-H
The Hybrid III 10 year old crash test dummy began development in 1997 and is similar in design to the rest of the Hybrid III family of dummies but has some special features to allow it to achieve postures representative of older children. The dummy is configurable in multiple seating arrangements including upright, slouch, and semi-slouched postures. The 10 year old shoulder is also sloped for improved shoulder belt routing. The anthropometry and weight are representative of an average 10-year-old child.
Incorporated by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Final Rule in 2012, the new rule amends the current child seat standard to include child seats and boosters for children weighing between 65 and 80 pounds. The 10 year old is the first dummy to help evaluate higher weight restraint systems in compliance tests.
