The origin of Humanetics stems back to the time a collection of engineers making sensors realized they could help the US Air Force design safer planes and ejection mechanisms.
Prior to the development of crash test dummies, dead bodies, animals and live humans were used to test safety features. As the engineers learned how to instrument dummies with sensors to measure force, pressure, impact and displacement, they understood how they could predict injuries such as rib fractures, chest compressions, concussions, broken bones, muscle and soft tissue injuries.
Then came the need to create sensors, timers, photonics and fiber optic technology to improve the capture and transmission of data to test engineers.

The outcome of sophisticated sensor technology development can be seen in our most sophisticated range of dummies including THOR and WorldSID.
